WE DON’T NEED YOUR DEGREE CERTIFICATE: GOOGLE, APPLE AND 13 OTHER COMPANIES DECLARE
August 23, 2018
Skill and value have always been the bedrock of education and the Academy (Schooling) system was put in place to see to that. With time the schooling system has become too rigid and students more interested in the idea of passing a course than learning.
Education in itself goes beyond the circular idea of going to college and earning certificates. The world is quickly understanding the fact its no longer about the Degree or certificate gotten, but the value you have to add. it is believed that 80% of Billionaires don’t have a college degree.
As the time of writing the post, it is no longer news that certain big-time companies have publicly announced that having a certificate is longer a criterion for being considered for interview instead its “what you have to offer in terms of skill and innovation, will be a major criteria for getting a job regardless of your qualifications. A Degree is used to demonstrate “commitment and an ability to reach goals” and not so much as knowledge. so having a degree is good but it is not just a good reason to get a decent job anymore.
“When you look at people who don’t go to school and make their way in the world, those are exceptional human beings. And we should do everything we can to find those people,” said Google’s former SVP of People Operations Laszlo Bock.
“Academic qualifications will still be taken into account and indeed remain an important consideration when assessing candidates as a whole, but will no longer act as a barrier to getting a foot in the door,” added Maggie Stilwell, Ernst and Young’s managing partner for talent.
Most of these Big Corporations include Apple, Google, IBM, Bank Of America, Ernst and Young (EY),Starbucks, Whole Foods, Penguin Random House, Costco Wholesale, Hilton, Publix, Nordstrom, Home Depot, Chipotle, and Lowe’s.
